POLAND IN EUROPE
POLAND W UE
Poland's image abroad

Poland? What European Union nations know about this country? Not much. There are a lot of stereotypes and myths in the countries of "15".
Young Europe Association report
We don't know why you think that there is cold in Poland? Yes, we have some cold months: November, December, January, February but rest is hot and hotter. From May to October the temperature is from 20 - 38 degree. Poland is hot, green, full of animals and birds from hot countries who come here for half of a year.
We are poor? No, it is second false myth. Yes we are not very rich nation but we aren't poor. If you came here you will notice that Polish people have such new and expensive cars as: Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and other. We have modern houses. Some people who came here from Germany say that in Poland people have better standard at home than in some European Unions countries.

Poland's map
Next very important think is location of Poland on the map of Europe. some wrote that "It is in eastern Europe" some that "Poland is located somewhere in the far East or that they don't know that all.
Poland is located in Central - East Europe. From geographical point of view our country is located exactly in the center of our continent. Poland have common frontiers with the following countries:
Germany, Czech Republic, Slowakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Russia.

You often think that "Polish culture and mentality is more Asian than European"... We are in the Europe from the begining. We felt, feel and will feel Europeans. Poland had very important role in creating European culture, art, music. In 16th century Poland was the biggest country in Europe. Our king Jan III Sobieski with Polish army on horses called "Husaria" rescued Vienna and saved Europe from Turkish agresion. Members of Polish aristocracy married European countries princesses and there were rulers such as French queen Maria Leszczynska (wife of Louis XV) who were Polish. Our kings and aristocracy marred other European royal families members too, for example king Zygmunt Stary and Italian princess Bona.

"Poland is an old communism country" - we were in this resim from 1945 when some European politicians "solt" us to Stalin and his policy. Europe forgot that in 1921 Polish marshall Josef Pi³sudski with Polish army saved Western Europe from Russian Communism in a famous battle over the river Vistula. In Poland there were communism against our will. You should remember that it were exactly Poles who broke this resim. Remember that Poland was the second country in the world (after the USA) and first in Europe which had estabilished its own Constitution (it was in 1795).

We have received information from you that Poland is dominated by old and not modern agriculture. Next false myth. Poland is not dominated by this specialisation. We have under 30% of people who work in this sector in Poland. The biggest group of them have specialist equipment to seal works. Very little Polish farmers work with horses in XXI century.

You think that Polish people drink a lot of vodka, another false myths are conected with the water within hours of arrival. Any other stereotyping is told in jock-ular fashion in which the Polish seem to take great delight. Next - we really don't know why but it is said in E.U. countries and in the world that Poland had no sandy beaches, only pebble ones. The true is that here in Poland are beautiful beaches of white-golden sand.
What You would like to know?

You wrote that you have no information about Polish people, our everyday life, folk, culture, landscapes, cuisine, animals who live in Poland.
